I may have been weeping like a schoolgirl (Scared to death!)while I did it.....but I think my natural instinct would have been to whack him.......Or run
.
We have timber rattlers in these parts.....but I've never come across one. I'll be hunting out of my Double Bull, tomorrow.....and I WILL take an extra glance or two when setting up!

Sorry man - but I can tell myself to not be scared 1000 times, but I bet when I see the next one - I'm gonna jump just as high as I did when I saw the last one (which was just as high as the time I saw my first one).
Although calm and collected would probably get me out of that situation safely, I would bet I wouldn't have a chance in heck to do that. I just have to wonder how high my ground blind would fly if I saw a snake in it.

I'm glad I am not the only one here that would pee down my leg if that happened. I don't scare real easy and reptiles don't bother me that much. But having a venomous snake right next to me would probably do it.
Fortunately my blind is 14 feet off the ground, air tight and has a lock on the door. Bugs can't even get in unless I leave the windows open. We designed them that way to keep flies and wasps out during the off the season. They are also nicer during crappy days when it is windy or wet out. I even insulated mine
