Default Mineral Lick

Is it too late in the season to put outa mineral lick and have the deer still use it? I know that it wont help with any of the antler growth since they have all shed their velvet in my area atleast, but im sure it must help them put on some weight? What type of lick would you put out? I have never used one before, where do you put them, just anywhere in the woods, or is it best to put in an area already with alot of sign in it? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

we freshened a lick that was 5 years old just at the beginning of last year. The deer were using it within a few days

I know that lots of folks say this is not the time of year for them, but honestly the deer in my area use them year round. Especially when it rains. Mineral water for deer? Anyways, go ahead and do it. If you want a good recipe do a seach on it, there was a real good thread on it back during the summer. If you can't find it I will post it for you.

I would go ahead and put it out. I have had one out all summer and they are still
hitting it. At least they may already know where to find itwhen spring comes
and they really need it.
