When I first started hunting elk I use to have a feild tipp in my quiver until one night I was hikeing back to the truck and a bull stepped out 20 yards in front of me. I didn't take my eyes off him and grabbed one out of the quiver and shot. It was a good hit. I watched the bull run down hill threw a very open clear cut with bino's and saw him fall after about a 500 yard run. That got me thinking ?????? How did he go that far. We'll I looked in the quiver and sure as poop I shot him with a feild tip. I got back to hunting camp and I had a new nick name for several years (Field tipp) Upon going to the bull we didn't find any blood but it was dark if I had not seen him fall we would have never found him. I no longer carry any arrows that are questionable >>>Pieriod!!!!

Anyone who answers yes to this shouldn't be allowed to hunt. Besides being a really BAD idea, it is illegal in most states.

I do not carry field tips with me while hunting. If I am hunting for deer, I am going to hunt for a deer, not a squirrel or rabbit.

A field point for deer.....duh
I think that TeeJay's answer is pretty easily inferred from this statement. He wastryingto make it clear that the answer to thisquestion ought to be obvious to anyone with a lick of common sense.

My opinion is that any slovenly idiot who knowingly shoots a deer with a field point deserves nothing less than tobe drug out of the woods in handcuffs.

Not only would I not do it, anyone that does should lose thier hunting license. For life. Here in MN its illegal, but it would also be unethical. If I didn't bring enough broadhead arrows in the field, I am not going to make a deer pay for my dumb mistake.
