Most people suggest taking pictures without having the deer gutted. Just makes for better pictures. They also suggest you do it in the wild and not in a garage or house yard or anything.

I usually...take the deer out of the woods, and then gut it at the house in our woods. It still makes good pictures...and that's just usually how I do it. If I had to hump it out, by myself, on foot...I might gut it first in the woods to make it lighter to drag.

i always say gut them where they lay, although one of the clubs i belong too, they make you bring the deer back to camp to gut at least we have vechicles to recover the deer with

I actually take the camera with me out into the woods and take the pic before I gut it. I typically try to gut the deer next to a stream or some water source then afterwards as it makes cleaning up so much easier.
