Do you feel sorry when you look at a nice ribeye in the grocery store??? I don't I have never felt that way after a kill. Maybe Im the odd Duck on the pond. To excited and hungery. LOL Honestly I have read about that feeling on a lot of posts, I only felt it once and that was 20 years ago when I lost a deer and after tree days of looking I still felt it, But if I shoot a animal and its dead at my feet Im a happy camper.... Maybe the wifes right and I do need help?????

Not one bit. I enjoy shooting deer. Unfortunately, I don't have time to deal with a kill after the hunt hence I talk myself out of shooting them. The good news is, I found a place that will take the whole animal guts and all for a donation. That also coincides with a piece of property I picked up that wants all deer dead. Life is good. That is if your not a deer.

Oh yeah I feel the same way. I say a prayer and thank god for the oppurtunity to hunt such a great animal. then when I see the family enjoying a good meal at the table its complete. The first deer I ever shot I had to finish her off with a knife, it was hard to do and I almost give up the sport because I was young and fresh. But I said a prayer and give the deer the respect that it deserved and been doing the same ever since. wish ya luck this yr.

Great post. I don't think we would trully be hunters if we didn't feel just a bit sad after taking an animal. It is that feeling and respect for the animal that trully separates us from the stereotype that antis portray.

I have always taken a "moment" when I find the deer I just killed. Always have. It just seems like the right thing to do. The dead animal deservs respect and thanks IMO should be awarded to God for allowing me the opportnity. If not for the deer, we would not be able to persue our passions. It's more than "us". The deer are the bigger part and should be treated as such.
If you do not respect the animal you hunt and kill, I have to question your ethics. To each his own I quess.
