My experience w/ timbered property has been good as well. If you have deep ravines or sharpbluffs the loggers wont cut down the hillsides usually. This leaves a nice valley of timber, which is where the deer are.It might make finding the deer easier for you this year. Plusm, All the new growth next year will attract more deer to the property and you can expect good hunting.

Thanks for all of the encouregement guys. I feel like I am part of an on-line support group.............
I did some digging this morning and found out that they probably would not cut until the beginning of the year...........which is fine. I also may have stumbeld on to a peice of private property that a guy will lease.
Thanks for lifting my spirits guys.

I have experience w/ logging and the affects of it on the deer herd in that given area and can tell you with certianty that depending on the proximity to your stand/setup it really doesnt bother the deer as much as you would think it would. My buddy has seen some huge bucks while operating machinery in the woods.

We have been SELECTIVELY cutting our property over the last 10 years. I have an area that was logged in the winter of 2003-2004 and the regrowth is now over 12 feet high, and THICK. I'm seeing more grouse than ever before, and just yesterday, I jumped a bedded buck, that I was able to get within 25 yards of.
My experiences with selective logging has been nothing but POSITIVE.
I hope your land turns out the same way!

Don't fret just yet. You are making the assumption that they will start immediately. Despite the presence of equipment it might be days or even weeks before they start working. Hopefully you will get some quality hunting time in.
