Well, I took my first deer with a bow last evening just before dark. I had been watching deer in the field all evening but none came close enough until almost too late. I took a doe at about 18 yards. I think I forgot everything about shooting except point and shoot. When I let go I watched the arrow and was sure I had sent it right through her guts. She ran about 60 yards, stood still for about 20 seconds and just fell over. I had taken her far back, just below the spine. A few inches lower and she is gut shot big time, so I'm thankful and fortunate.
I skipped this morning due to the rain but hopefully I'll be back out tonight. Here in NY we get an archery tag and a muzzleloader tag and we can use either tag in either season. Gotta try and stay a little calmer and shoot a little better.

Congrats on your first bow kill.
May not have been the desired shot, but she went down fast. That is what counts!!

Congrats on your first bow kill. Just try to learn from it and aim harder next time. The most important this is you recovered the animal. Good job and good luck with the smokepole.
