Put me in the books.....
#44
Thanks again folks. I had a bunch of my regulars roll into the shop today and each of them gave me a big pat on the back as well. It is turning out to be another great day. Wish I could get back out hunting tomorrow though.
I definitely think the antler restrictions have helped increase the antler size of the average buck, at least where I hunt. Also, the buck to doe ratio is much more even now from my experience so, to some extent, I guess the doe reduction efforts also paid off.
Good question on whether or not I would have shot the 4 pointer. I honestly cannot say. I don't know if I would have had the right angle until he started walking away a bit. I shot a nice 6 pointer last year so I don't know if I would have been as tempted to shoot that 4 this year. Plus, just imagine what he is going to look like next year if he makes it through the season.

One question....how do you think the ar's are working up there for you guys? As far as I can tell, it looks like they are making things much better...at least from what can I see from the outside.
Just curious....would you have shot the first buck if you were allowed? Not being allowed, may have helped you get the big one. Thats a good promo for QDM right there. Either way, it worked out for the best for you...great job!
Now you can relax and enjoy the rest of the season...and get some meat!
