I scout all season long. Most of my scouting is from my truck with my binos. I usually find an area that has a good buck to doe ratio, before I even think about putting time in the woods. Once I find this I try to pattern the deer. Then without spooking any deer or leaving scent in the woods I enter usually on a rainy day I do some more scouting well before season. The rain usually washes away the scent. Trails, rubs, scrapes, food plots, edges of fields or where fencerows meet, or even where the forage changes form Oaks to pines, and also from thick brush to open timber. I always have great succsess near these signs and especially the edge. Are you hunting from the ground? Whats your setup.
