RE: What would you call this?
I voted '4' because that's closer to the way we do it around here. Nobody I know would call it an 8. And yet, nobody I know would call itjust a'4' either; most would call it a 4x4.

RE: What would you call this?
ORIGINAL: PABowhntr 8 pointer by Eastern count. 4 pointer by western terminology. |
RE: What would you call this?
Around these parts it'd be called an 8 pointer. We add all thepoints together and that's what it is.It seems to me thatusing the"4x4"nomenclature is a western/northern thing where they also talk about mulies and elk where the"A x B" is the common method of describing a rack. Here in whitetail(only) country, weuse the common method for describing a whitetail rack (at least from my observations).

It's an 8. Don't let Girly men confuse you.

RE: What would you call this?
growing up in Wyoming with elk, mulies, and white tails I heard all the nomenclatures. The Standard was to count one side for all three. But I think that elk and mulies should be counted on one side and whitetails count 'em all.
Elk: 4 point bull Mulie: 4 point buck Whitetail: 8 point |
RE: What would you call this?

That'd be and 8 pt in Ohio.

RE: What would you call this?
It's nice to see I've got at least 2 others on my side. When you easterners say in a post, "last year I got a 6 pointer" I'm under the assumption it's got 6 on each side.
Where I get confused is that when it's a non-typical you always hear for a 5x5 that "It's a main frame 5", why not say it's a main frame 10???????? |
RE: What would you call this?
Am I allowed to vote?? I'm not in the contest! ;)
