Is it OK to have your stand in the bedding area
#11
We have stands in bedding areas. If you're in stand all day, you can get a GREAT shot.
I don't buy that if you walk through a bedding area, the deer won't come back to that spot for at least a couple days. Not in my area, at least.

Hey LIVBUCKS....YOUVE got me wrong....Imm saying you never said you pulled the string on the 6pt....Im implying....poorly it seems ....that the 6pt either got away or heeze in your freezer...Now you say heeze still runnin around??....Man go on and git at him!!!
Some bucks will let you walk really close to them especially in the thick stuff...its like they think theyve got on good camo. They just freeze rather than take off and give up their BED...They just get LOW and WATCH ya,,they are tricky that way. EVEN IF THE DOE SPOOKS!!
I agree with you about getting the bead on a bedded buck...When they get full ..they are a bit lazy....just like humans...they can sleep too sound and...................... BOOYAH GOOD HUNTS 2 YA

I would agree with Badatta. Set up close to it but not actually in it otherwise the deer will catch wind of you and permanently vacate that bedding area.

I would set up on the downwind side of the bedding area. The bucks will cruise the down wind side starting in the pre rut phase. You will see more action then you can handle if you can get to and from this area without spooking the does off.Dont set up too close but close enopugh to keep it in site.If you look then you will find old trails on the down wind side of the bedding area.Set up there.

You know I guess we all relate to the "bedding area" as the one near the area we hunt. My areasbeddingsite is a thick thick stand of pines that covers probably 4 acres. Trying to go in there only leads to much noise and few, if any, shot opportunities. So I would not go in there during the season. After the season, horn hunting and such I've counted well over 80 beds in the snow, in that area, some new, some older, you get the picture.
SO I guess you can't make a blanket statement of do this or don't do that. It depends on your area and what you've learned about the deeractivityin that section of land.
