RE: bow speed, doesn't anyone tell the truth?

I could care less how fast my bow shootsas long as itgets the arrowthere before the deer runsthats fast enough.

PSE Nova with string leaches/peep, carbon tech cheetah hunters. 27.5 draw 58#s

because his arrows are lighter if they were 30" they would be like 100 grains lighter and he might have a longer draw length i mean think about it carbons are usually always lighter than aluminums i think its like 1fps per 6 grians or something like that is what u gain or loose he would auto matically gain like 17 fps or so if his arrows were 30 inches if they are shorther he would gain more if he is shooting a longer draw he will be shooting more alsom maybe not 34 fps but he would have a gain over you.

BowTech Allegiance, 30" @ 71#'s, 466 grain Easton Axis ST 300 at 286 f.p.s. It shoots a 29.5" Black Hawk Vapor 340 with a 100 grain tip at around 301 f.p.s. I have been messing around with it lately and think I have picked up some speed, right now I am shooting 28.5" Gold Tip Pro Hunter 55/75's with 100 grain tips and 4" dura-vanes. I am not sure of the speed but I know its well over the 300 f.p.s. mark.

Drizz, it's very concievable that his bow could shoot that much faster than yours. 3# less draw and he loses 6fps. 110gr less arrow weight and he gains at least 20fps and more likely 25fps. If his bows drawlength is longer than your then he gains about 12fps more per inch.

What's more, what all do you have on your string and where is it located? Everything you put on a string slows the bow down, and the closer to the center serving the more so.

Believe me, I see a lot of guys come into the shop where I work with what I'll call typical hunting setups. For those who want more speed and are willing to let me play, I can usually give them 15fps just cleaning the unneeded junk on the string. For those who really want all they can get I can usually tweak 30 to 50 fps out of their bows without changing draw weight or length.
