You are right Kansasdeerhunter, but a mature buck almost always leaves his dew claws in his tracks. Maybe that is different in Texas, but here in Iowa it runs true. Also, here in Iowa that is a nice doe track, not even a huge doe. Most mature bucks here will leave a print that the front of the track will be split even more and the "toes" will point out away from each other. You can almost put your fist inside a mature bucks tracks here. Maybe Texas is different though. Good luck Josh!

ya probably a 2 year old doe!!!!!! not a buck from what i can tell and if it was a buck it probably isnt big enough to shoot anyways. Unless i am missing something i would say its a doe. U should be able to get 4 fingers into a pretty good sized track and if its huge all 5

You guys are right about the size of the Midwest deer tracks. I had the privelage of hunting in Kansas for 8 years and the deer and their tracks are much bigger than the Texas deer. For Texas however, that is a very nice deer and could be a doe or a buck. The weight of the deer is what causes the dew claws to leave a mark. Looking at the track it could be either because the toes are split. Good Luck either way.

Doe or Buck the backstrap is still going to be tastey..

Looks like a good deer josh.

As for the dew claws, the track looks like it may not be deep enough for the claws to show.

Bucks typically will not put as much of a dewclaw jab until they put the weight on their necks...
