RE: How high have you been ?
I have gone as high as 45ft several times while rifle hunting, in order to see as much of a cut-over as possible. The highest bow stand I ever had was 34ft. I try to keep my stands from 18-25 with most of them around right around 22ft. I do have one this year at 30 ft but that was simply where it had to go if I was going to hunt that particular tree.

I try to stick around 25 feet. I've had 1 fall from about 20 feet and another from around 15. The fall from 20 feet happened when I got in a tree that was as slick as snot and pretty much frozen from the previous nights rain. I started to come down and my stand just slid down the tree about a hundred miles an hour. I sprained my ankle but nothing too serious. The fall from 15 feet happened when I didn't have my safety rope tied to the bottom part of stand and it fell out from under me while I was climbing down. I didn't have a safety harness on and I fell back but luckily had no injuries except for a battered ego. No matter how high I go now I always have all the neccessary safety equipment.
Oh yeah. I just wanted to say hi to everyone. I was around here a long time ago. Well last year and haven't been back in a while. With the season coming on I couldn't stay away.

During bow I stay between 20 to 25 feet. During rifle I go as high as I can and sill have a good view. One of the places I hunt is a large clear cut. There I go about 55 feet in a pine tree and can see for miles.

Well for me I stay around 20 - 25 ft for hunting, but 1 time I climbed a pine all the way to the top to check an area out over some shorter pines. wanted to see what was over on the other side, trees etc. to give me an idea and a compass reading. id say it was about 50 to 60 ft. maybe more.

I have a 18ft bow rope, and a 33' axle to axle Brute Force bow...when my bow is off the ground, I stay there. Usually 20-22ft.
