I usually make a "huntin' tape" before each season. Mostly huntin' songs or songs that get me bee boppin' on the drive there. Anything to wake me up and get me thinkin' about huntin'.

I feel like a wierdo but when I'm going to the woods I love anything BLUEGRASS, banjos and fiddles get me going. And there's nothing like coming in at lunch eating a samich and listening to the WVU Mountaineers kick somebody's butt.

I must be getting old. I usually tune into my favorite AM station and listen to the news.[&:]There's nothing like a good weather forecast to get me pumped!

Every morning—As I head out, I fire up the all-time greatest "pre-hunt" song ever—"Backwoods Boy" by Josh Turner.
Read these lyrics, is there a more fitting song to listen to just before hitting the woods? Well, I guess he could have replaced the .243 with a bow—but the song still gets the mood right
Woke up at 5am, put on my camouflage
Wiped off my .243 and fired up my Dodge
Headed out to my ol' deerstand back in the pines
Gonna get me a ten point buck with 11 inch tines, yeah
Settled in hidin' from the wind, waitin' on the sun
You might end up being my supper if you get in the way of my gun
It's so still I can hear the train from 10 miles away
If I'm here 8 hours from now it'll be OK, yeah
CHORUS
Cause I'm a backwoods boy
Grew up on a dirt road
I'm a backwoods boy
With no better place to go
Waitin' on a deer, wishin' on a star
I'll always be true to my heart
Cause I'm a backwoods boy
I'm a backwoods boy
Sittin' on the bank of Lynches
River with a little campfire
Sleepin' on the ground, diggin' the
Sound of a backwoods choir
Talkin' to the man in the moon
Way up in the sky
He told me to let my worries
roll on by, yeah
REPEAT CHORUS
I'm a backwoods boy
I'm a backwoods boy
Backwoods boy
Mmmmm
I'm a backwoods boy
