Default Packing in a Climbing Stand

The straps on my API climber are not very comfortable if you have a pretty long hike to set up. I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to rig up some "shoulder padded" straps or anyting to reduce the "digging in" effect I get with the current straps.

You could probobly just look for some wider straps, or try some seatbelt pads like these: http://cgi.ebay.com/MOSSY-OAK-SEAT-BELT-SHOULDER-PADS-SET-OF-2_W0QQitemZ6552937536QQcategoryZ418QQssPageNameZWD VWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I have a loggy bayou climber and i replaced the nylon straps with padded ones that i got out of cabelas. then work great and come with enough pad to stop the discomfort.

I've use that foam pipe insulation with ducttapeon most my stuff. I'm not into fashion when it comes to hunting but its functionaland it fits right in my budget.

I never thought of it, but the pipe insulation sounds like a great idea & and will save alot of money.

Never tried the pipe insulation suggestion but I did buy a set of those padded straps to use with my API climber when I had it. Those made a world of difference for the comfort level of carrying the stand, especially on long trips.
