how many of you smoke cigarettes or cigars? how big of an impact do you feel that it has on your hunting physique? I smoke, not very much, but it is all coming to an end here on my daugther's first b day at the end of the month. I've quite before and can feel that I have more energy for my time outdoors. I am getting older, and I wonder sometimes (as I try and keep up with my younger counterpart of 13 yrs) is it the cigarettes, or is it age?

I haven't smoked in five years but when I did I knew it took a toll on me. By the time I walked up any kind of hill I was totally out of breath. Even climbing up a tree with a treestand was a burden at times. Age has something to do with it but smoking just compounds the problem further.

My dad smokes and hunts, he cant walk around for long periods of time without losing all his breath. When he is in his stand he coughes and that hurts his cahnces at a deer. Id say he needs a cough silencer, but now im just getting off track here.

It'll kill ya. I quit a little over 3 months ago. I've quit before for as long as 7 years. Go figure. Lung cancer is going to kill my wife and she quit 20 years ago. I never smoked in the house, car or anywhere around hersince the day she quit. It takes your lungs and wind. It sure doesn't help to smoke.

Very interesting, Yes smoking does increase your chances to greater health issues. However prescribe medication is taking out folks at a much higher rate go figure.
It’s a process day by day; I’ve fell off the wagon a few times! And I will quit again this time for good. Smoking hasn’t slowed me down as of yet at the age of 41. Each has a different genetic metabolism, how something may effect another may not be the same for his/her associates. I can still run 3-5 miles a day, but I’m sure if I continue to smoke there’s a great chance of that diminishing.

I quit puffing 25 years ago. Went from 2 packs a day to nothing. Cold turkey. No way was I going to pay 55 cents a pack! [:@]
It was disgusting, all the black crud I coughed up for the first 2 months after quitting. [:'(]
As to whether it's the smoking or age, the answer is YES.[8D]

quit 7 years ago, Started seeing more deer the first season I quit. Could've been the smell or tha arm movement. Any way you'll feel younger and start to do things like you used to.
If that's not incentive I don't know what is.

I quit last year, but smoked mostly when I had a few beers,I used to smoke more than that, and each time I would try to quit I would fail. Also I chewed. My job is laborous, climbing poles, lifting heavy wire ,digging holes and such ;in the summer heat you wouldn't want to smoke much or you would have problems.I am tobacco free now and at a mere 43 years of age feel better than I have in years.Onbly thing that slows me now is my arthritis.
