I would like to hear the good, bad, and the ugly on this specific head.

They open fast, are super accurate, sharp, and pretty tough. Last year every report I got on them was postive. This year I have heard of 3 poor reports, but all three were on elk, and all three heads bent between the blade tip, and the main blades. The ferule bent over. all three animals were recoverd, but it is something to consider. I personaly feel they are one of the best mechanical heads now on the market, but for DEER size animals. I feel fixed blade heads are a much better choice for elk and larger game.

Wiley, I've been a member on this board for years now. When I first came here I was very much anti mechanical and had some real discussions about it. Since, I've kept an open mind, mechanicals have come a long way and I have confidence in what 5Shot has to say. We've come to know one another on the board and I trust his experience. After using Muzzy fixed blade for more than 10 years, I tried the Rocky Mountain Snyper last year for the first time. I went this route on 5Shot's recommendation and testings. If you don't know, 5Shot has tested about every broadhead out there and has a rating system, the Snypers came out on top of the mechanical heads...

Well, moment of truth, my best buck to date at 25 yards, one Rocky Mountain Snyper sent through him. Mind you, I made a bad shot but the holes were tremendous, the entrance hole was actually bigger than the exit hole which was good. The blades fully opened on impact not through the impact.

I tested these heads extensively before hunting with them as well. They opened on all tests I put them through and I actually taped the blades down to save on rubber bands. I was impressed and recommend them. And to think, I was antimechanical. NY Hunter would be proud.

I've seen the tip shear off on an elk and the tip bend 90 degrees on a coyote. I'm not real impressed but in all fairness both animals were recovered. HArd to beat the muzzy 100 4-blade...it'll fly as good as any mech........IMHO
