I chronographed my new bow last week and it was disappointing to say the least. It shot at 235fps with 65#. However, the speed is due in large part to the heavy 340 S/T axis arrows i am shooting. I then shot a 410 a buddy had and it shot at 255. My bow only goes to 70# max. I was looking for any suggestions on increasing my fps so that i can stick with the 340's (besides cranking it up to 70#'s which is what im going to do. Will changing over to blazer's help anything with speed?

need more info............what is your draw length? What lenght are your arrows? What grain tips are you shooting? What do you have on the string? Brass knocks, string loop, leaches, whiskers....................everything makes a difference. Just off hand, I bet you are looking at the IBO speed of the bow which is at 300 fps.....................well that is at 70#'s with a 30" draw length and you aren't pulling quite that far, maybe in the 28 inch range?

I am shooting with a 28" draw. Im not certain of my arrowlength however i know it can be cut back a little. I am using 100grain tips. I am using the stock PSE string silencers (chubs i think they call them) and my arrowrest allows for perfrect clearence. The only thing on my string is the kisser.

ok 235fps well i tell you what get your arrows cut to 28.25in for one that will give you about 15fps more than take off the chubs put on string leachhes bye sims. if this dosent work get pumping the wieghts get lighter arrows move the draw wighet up to 70lbs best advice i got

If your shooting at 60 pounds you need to be shooting Axis 400s. I shoot a 60 pound Vengeance and they are very fast.

I agree the 340's may be overspined for your setup anyway. BUT, know this............right off the bat you are dealing with 45 FPS in reductions from what I see. Even with those 340's you should be shooting in the low 250's though. Are you sure you're pulling what you say? HAve you put the bow on a scale or are you just estimating from turning the limb bolts out?

Im gonna crank it up to 70 lbs. for sure. Does the change from the stock string silencers to string leeches really increase my fps by 15? The bow was scaled to 65lbs so i know i am not shooting less.

I saw NO difference in switching from whiskers to leaches...........my chrono'd speed stayed exactly the same, except my bow got about twice as loud [&:]

An out of tune cam can cause the lower speeds by making the bow less efficient.

One thing I would like to ask is were you happy with the bow before you chrono'd it? Chrono's kill a lot of peoples confidence because they think they are probably shooting XXX fps only to find they are shooting about 30 fps less. They go from loving their setup to wanting to change everything in the split second that it takes to release and register on the chrono.

If you were shooting good, and your bow was quiet..........forget what the chrono said and shoot and have fun. Otherwise you are going to be fighting the speed demon and never be happy.
