Nope, not the blood, although it does let you nkow if yougot any on the shaft real quick. It is to better track or see the arrow in flight. Plus it looks really cool.......

Very cool looking shafts there man! I'm liking the the flames and stars! How do you like the Quik Spins? I'm giving them a try this year and so far they do pretty good except they like to wrinkle a bit after getting shot in the grass.

what's the purpose of cresting your arrows. i'm just curious. does it help tell where you hit by the color of the blood of what. i'm just wondering??
#1... it lets you follow the flight of the arrow to the target which will aid you in better calling a shot.
#2... it also allows you to judge the shot after a hit should you have not seen the exact spot of the impact. A white crested arrow will immediately let you know what kind of hit you got. Blood shows up very well on white. Dark blood usually means a liver or flesh wound. Bright frothy blood is a sure sign of a lung hit, and then you get the dreaded slime meaning a gut shot deer. All of this is much easier to see on a white background rather than a camoflague or black one (or some other color).
#3... it allows you to find your arrow much easier after the shot.
#4... if you are truely diping and cresting your arrows, not spray painting or vinyl wraps, it allows you to identify them from other arrows. It also adds a personal touch to hand built arrows.
When I fletch my arrows they all have plain white wraps or paint and at least two white feathers with the cock feather usually being a flourescent.

I think I'm done with the Quick Spins. While I like them, they are too heavy. I think they are 12 grns apiece. I'm switching to Blazers next week to see how they do. Heard lots of good about them.

Here is mine done with the spray painting. I think they turned out pretty well. Provided the fletching holds to the paint after some shooting, I will be doing this to all my arrows. I went and had blazers put on the one I did, and the pro shop told me that if this works well, they would fletch a whole dozen arrows for free for telling them about this method.
