Cyclone you are AMAZING, the top left dot you show is EXACTLY where I'm hunting, but at night. The green trails are dirt roads.
There are some cows in the northern most fields near my blue dot, are cows bad?

Nope just north of the blue dots is the Mass/CT border, I'm hunting about 50-100 just over the line in CT.

Probably why I'm not seeing anything either.<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>
MJL brought up a good point also..I missed that spot.
I'm not a fan of hunting near cows although I would step in a couple of cow pies on my way in if I were you. Great cover scent.

The deer are prabaly used to the cows, The cows wont scare the deer away, but they will def steer them from thier oringinal destinations...stay away from the cows.
One thing to figure out about deer sign is when are they making the sign...early morning, afternoon, or 3 am in the morning! the deer may be in your area, but long gone before you even get there. so many variables to consider...good luck.

one thing. u said what u wore while hunting, and u walk a 1/3 of a mile. try putting on ur gloves and long sleeve shirts and things when u get to your stand. it might help u stay a little cooler and sweat less...but then again, u would prolly know if the deer were winding you. they'd prolly be within sight distance before they smelled you.

RE: Am I a bad deer hunter?
Thanks a million for the help so far guys!
I was up in my stand for a few hours (north/west blue dot) and I couldn't stop thinking about it as a "morning spot" so I decided to do a little more scouting of the reccomended spots. I think you guys will find this interesting.
I climbed the hill immediatly to the left of my stand and I struck GOLD!!! I *think*. Right up there is a trail that is VERY well travelled by deer. To the south east it connects to a dirt road and heads to the corn fields I went the other way towards blue dot in the north east. Following this trail to the north east it connects with two other dirt roads at a "V".
QESTION # 1: Would it be good to set up a stand off this travel route?
So I followed that trail for awhile but north east takes me back into Massachusetts where it is not yet bow season so I turned around.
I back tracked most of the way and headed south east to find the "green trail" running east/west. Ok here is where it gets weird. It turns out there is a barbwire fence right there and to the south is a Audubon Sactuary so I can't go there LOL! It was the weirdess thing following the fence headed towards the three red dots to the east. On the Audubon side of the fence there was ZERO green growth, no little trees, no little plants, no ground cover, just trees and brown needles. To the north of the fence it was full of green growth and plush.
Question 2: Why would there be no green plants no the other side of the fence? Grazing animals?
As I got close to the red dots I realized I had hiked that area and seen deer at dusk EXACTLY where cyclone said they would be. Problem is I'm not sure I can hunt there since it is off my plot. Problem is if they are at the red dots at dusk those deer would never make it to my stand at the blue dot during the daylight.
Question 3: If I was going to evening hunt somewhere near the blue dots where would you hunt?

1. Yes, If you think you've struck gold then you probably have.
2.? NO idea.
3. On that trail, I'd probably go along the stream to the blue dot furtherest to the east.
I'm sure everyone else would have said the deer would have been at the red dots in the evening, look at that big crop field..just to the east. Find out if you can hunt the red dots. Don't trespass, even when scouting.
