I believe I saw this one before as well though it continues to remain impressive each time I see the pics and read the story. It reminds me of that movie called "Grizzly" where the end up using a bazooka to finish it off.

There was an hnet member that posted the pics of the bear and gave the real story on it in the big game fourm a couple years ago. That may be where you seen it. I know it was 2001 atleast so I doubt the post is still there or do they archive them that long?

1700 pounds? Biggest griz in the world? This is one of those stories that gets better with the telling... Pretty soon he will have come out of the ocean and destroyed Japan just before the hunter shot him....
