Geographically speaking I wonder how much variance there is in regards to the timing of antler shedding and the initiation of regrowth. In my neck of the woods weoccasionally findfresh shedsas early as late December and in all the years those December sheds, have belonged tomature bucks, 3.5 year olds and older. I have never found a fresh "young" buck sheds in December or even in January for that matter. With that being said I start seeing definate antler regrowth from March on. I have seen older bucks sprouting bases when younger bucks are still packing in March. I am curious as to what you guys are all seeing in your neck of the woods.

I agree with ILCORNFED on that buck, He looks like a 2.5 year old with good genetics for the future. Nice picture and thanks for sharing. The bucks I am watching this summer that are 3.5 years old and older are all very developed right now. Even many of my 2.5 year olds are growing their tines now and their main beams areclose to finishing up. This could be a geographical tendancy though, thats what makes me curious.

Once again thanks for sharing the cool picture and I look forward to seeing that heavy based buck your friend has photos of.

Shed, I would guess an older buck run down would drop in Early Jan.I have seen scrapes as late as mid Jan. but it's kind of unusal.I don't start looking until late Feb or March. I got a lot of 1 1/2's on cam after shedding in early Feb so thesecould some of them. It's hard to tell mass with velvet on them. I should get a better buck in the near future and I can't wait.
