gut them as soon as possible. But I will take them a few yards out of my way if they fall where I expect to see other deer come out. But get the guts out right quick

Gut em where they fall. And if the rut is in, hunt near the gutpile. I've observed several bucks on the prowl that came right over to an old gutpile site to smell and paw the ground.
