It all depends on the conditions. I shoot and practice out to 50yrds. I have no plans on taking that shot and I have never taken a shot further than 20yrds. But if the conditions were perfect and I mean perfectit would not bother me to shoot 40yrds. The bad deal is that there are so many factors that play into taking a long shot.

Right now I feel comfortable taking a shot up to about 30 yards or so depending on time of season, angle, amount ofsunlight, wind direction, direction & size of deer. I think that's about it...

As the others have said, condition is everything. But also, am I shooting from the ground or in a stand. In perfect conditions if I felt comfortable, and I was on the ground,I would throw an arrow up to 60 yards. My highest pin is 80 yards and I can shoot a group of 6 in the 10 ring from 60,,,, but that is perfect conditions. I only pray that the situation only comes up a couple of times in my life. I would take a 20 yard kill on a nice deer any day over a 60 yard shot at the same caliber deer. For some reason, I am alot more comfortable shooting long distances from the ground. Just my opinion.

I will shoot 60yds without second guessing myself, as long as I have a range finder.

Two of my buddies shot elk 2yrs ago @ 67 and 76 yds!
