I will bet you 500 packs of Muzzy's that the Muzzy's you find at Wal-Mart aren't the same as the ones you find at the Pro-Shop. For that matter neither are the thunderheads. They make them "special" for Wal-Mart with cheaper materials. Balk if you want but my sister-in-law is the Director of Operations at the largest Wal-Mart distribution center in the country.

Silentassin:
I just got off of the phone with Muzzy Customer Service/ Technical advice (770-387-9300) and the Company assured me ( I spoke to two different people there)that the broadheads that are available in Wal-Mart are the exact same quality and materials that are available at my local Pro Shop. Your claim is crazy and I've got a bridge to sell your sister-in-law

...If you have any doubt, call the company yourself.

<BLOCKQUOTE id=quotequote:
No doubt that there are there are also many instances of factory seconds or production runs of lower quality finding discount retail distribution, but in this case given the economics of dealing with a Walmart size retail channel I would be very willing to place a bet in the Walmart Muzzy's being just the same as the higher priced pro-shop.

Yea, you're right what was I thinking. WalMart the mecca of high quality hunting equipment.

Have any of you bothered to compare the components? Would you know the difference either way? Can you tell bear **** from wild honey? Just a few of the questions that I have.

You're right. I guess I will just have to go out and get that Metallurgy (like you must have) so I can test the composition of the alloys, then I will need to get that Mechanical Engineering degree (like you must have) to be able to verify manufacturing tollerances adn stress points. Oh yeah, then I will need to get that Biology degree (like you must have) so I can tell the difference between **** and honey! (No wonder my tea always tastes so funny! lol)

Sure you can get some junk at Walmart - just like you can get some junk at the ol' pro shop. But, many a quality manufacturer has cut deep discount deals to get access to that Walmart sales channel!

Silent, it seems you don't believe the manufacturer, but you believe your sister in law. What proof does she have, and why is her word any better than the people who make the product?

Silent, I hope you didn't take my post wrong. I wasn't asking so I could chastise you or your sister in law. I wondered how she knows this being that she doesn't even work for Muzzy. If she has info that the rest of us don't, then I know I would certainly like to hear it. And no, I certainly don't believe words just because it comes from the company itself and I doubt everyone else does either. But Muzzy is a pretty reputable company. So if they have told your sister in law different, or she has other proof, then lets hear it.

I shop at Walmart just about every time I need hunting gear, from thermal underware to guns and ammo. I highly doubt that a manufacturer would spend the money to make their products with less quality specially for Walmart, thats just bad business. They would have to have different machines set at different tollerances, run a different production line, buy different metals, use inferior bullets, bad powder, pay more people to run these machines, etc. etc. They also still have to put their name on the package and I highly doubt any of them want to see their reputation go to crap because they sell inferior products at Walmart.
