Acetone and carbons?

That's funny, because in the laboratory we use acetone in polypropylene centrifuge tubes. Polypropylene is the most common polymer around and we have never seen any problems. We have also used it to clean other polymer surfaces in the lab, and acetone is a common extraction fluid that we use. Don't mean to get real technical with you, but I don't agree with your comment.

Most manufactuers say NOT to use acetone on carbon. But as long as you are not soaking the shaft and are just wiping it clean it should be fine.
Of course all shafts are different and some may be hurt by using acetone and others may not.
