Default Got a Mathews Switchback for Christmas!

My sweetheart wife bought me a Mathews Switchback for Christmas! The bow arrived in the shop on Christmas eve (she was nervous that it wouldn't arrive in time).

I had asked for an Outback (an awesome shooting bow IMHO) but the shop had the Switchback on order and it happpened to fit my specs so she decided to get the Switchback (the shop said she could swap it for an Outback if I didn't like it).

My brother-in-law has an Outback and we each shot them side-by-side numerous times to compare them. Here are the setups:

The Outback had a 2-piece Mathews web quiver w/no arrows in it, limbsavers inboard on both limbs, no string silencers, a Drop Zone rest and a Trophy Ridge Matrix sight, no stabilizer. 29 1/2 inch draw.

The Switchback had a Tranquilizer Shorty stabilizer, a Golden Key Platimun rest (will go to a Trophy Taker but I didn't have the time to install it), and a Trophy Ridge Matrix V-Drive sight. 29 inch draw. We shot similar arrows and both bows were maxed at 70 pounds.

There was no question, the Switchback had a smoother draw and was noticeably quieter (!). As unbelieveable as this sounds (for those who have shot an Outback) the recoil was even less with the Switchback! The noise level was like that of my recurve. Unreal! And that was with no string silencers.

We didn't Chronograph it yet but it is suppossed to be 10 fps faster than the Outback. It is about an inch and a half longer than the Outback and the bottom cam looks like a round wheel (if you ride by on a fast horse). We didn't weigh the bows 'cause he had his quiver installed.

To say the least, I'm impressed. The only complaint I have is that the Zebra Barracuda string serving separated after less than 20 shots. I need to reserve and install a string loop anyhow.

I think this sums it up...my brother-in-law was a little rattled after shooting the Switchback since he just got his Outback three months ago. I guess good things do come to those who wait.
