Do not leave camp without Thermacell! I've had mine 4 years and it is still going strong....

If your taking about around your home to say, Bats are a way to virtually eliminate mosquitoes in an area. "When mosquitoes are abundant, a little brown bat can catch up to 600 in one hour."

Does this thing make any kind of noise?

The only noise it makes it when you first turn it on - a "click" similar to a butane BBQ pit - but not nearly as loud.

Darn--just received a reply from Bass Pro that the ThermaCell cannot be shipped to Canada due to some restrictions--consider Hazardous--anyone coming to Brampton Ontario soon--;).

They do work, but interestingly, they have the same active ingredient that are contained in the mosquito coil. Albeit, the active ingred is less in the coil vs. the thermacell, i suspect it is partly due to the therm being indirectly heated vs. the coil actually being lite. I will be trying the coil in my stand since they are hugely less expensive. I'll have both, but if the coil works and doesn't cause a problem from the glow, i will make the switch permanently.

I just ordered a large display rack for my shop. This was done on the word of several customers who have them and swear by them. Not just regular customers, these were guys that are businessmen and who I really trust.

As far as the wind, yes it will curtail the effectiveness. In a strong wind you shouldn't even attempt to use it. Nor would it be needed.

As far as shipping, yes you might be hit with hazardous shipping charges. You might be better off finding a local source. We Dealers pay a set hazardous charge on the entire lot so that it is amortized in the price and hardly noticeable.

Len you should do well with them. The shop I work at sold a bunch. Make sure you have plenty of the refills. I also bought one and used it while fishing with my 4yr old at a farmers pond. It worked great. It does claim to be scent free but I noticed a little bit of oder. Check it out for yourself. JMHO.;)
