I got tired of getting soaked in Pa last year. I got lucky and walked into our local Dicks and purchased Mossy Oak QT raintaimer pants and jacket for $100.00. I sat the last day in rain and 32 degrees. Perfectly dry at the end of the day.

If I know it is going to lightly " drizzle" off and on, I wear light layers of insulation beneath my regular camo.

If it is raining hard enough for me to have to wear a rainsuit to keep from getting drenched, I stay home or leave the field. Blood trails dissipate rapidly in rain and on rain-soaked ground. ;)

Cabelas MT050 is probably the best out there but it is also the most expensive. Cabelas also has their Rain Suede which is much less expensive and still very durable and effective.

I also saw an inexpensive pair of tops/bottoms in their archery catalog a week or so ago. I forget the name but both pieces were about $100 together!

Does anyone find that some of the materials out there that claim to be 100% water proof are actually that??? I bought some 10X raingear that seemed to be pretty good for about two years, but then got saturated on a heavy rain. I tried some of the spray on coatings out there, but none of them really worked.

It just seems to me that the only way to be pretty much sure of being dry is to use gortex.

Comments???? I will be looking to get some packable gear for a trip that I will be taking next year to Colorado.

Cabela' s MT050 is tuff, but not lightweight. No big deal if you are walking reasonable distances without a lot of gear. I took MT050 on a backpack Dall sheep hunt in the NWT of Canada. Big mistake. Pants/Jacket weigh almost four pounds and get soaked/clammy after a few hours in the rain. Try Frogg Toggs if still hunting as the pant/jacket combo weigh less than a pound, are 100% waterproof, and cost less than $100. I use Marmot or REI raingear for backpack hunts. I have also heard good things about Helly Hanson. You get what you pay for!

I' ve got a browning pac-light gore-tex. I' ve sat in rain all day stayed bone dry i' ts very light weight the jacket actually folds into it' s own pocket it' s not cheap but well worth it. It' s also very quiet and with the gore-tex it stops the wind so I wear it alot of days as a light jacket when it' s not raining

I have had Cabelas dry plus stuff for 4 years and love it. It is not the MTO50 but one step down. For fishing thought I use a Helly Hanson Jacket and bibs and it SMOKES the Cabelas stuff. Better water protection, lighter weight, better ventilation, etc. I don' t know that they make it in camo though? It would also be much louder though. My bud used his Dry Plus stuff hunting in AK 2 years ago and his report was that it was awsome. You still have to layer and need good gloves, boots, etc.

just a tip - I use suspenders on my rain gear when hunting, It holds the pants up higher in the inseam for walking and doesn' t let the water down your " crack" when you sit. You don' t need a tight belt on then either.

I was looking at the cabelas rain suede. Could I use this for fishing to and be in a downpoor without it leaking. Also, how much does the browning raingear cost.
