Default How often do you restring your bow?

I have a 2007 Black Ice. It is my first bow and I have been shooting for a little over a year. I was just wondering how much use do you get out of a bow string? When will I need to replace it? I shoot fairly regularly just wanted to know when most people change them.

I would say that if you only do a moderate amount of shooting, every two years. If are out there pounding outa couplehundred arrows a week, strings aren't going to last even a year. Regular waxing of the string, along with regular inspection for fraying, is part of the deal. And, when in doubt, change it. Do all of them - string and cables - at the same time.

I like to replace strings almost immediately, since the factory strings are almost never as good as a quality string like Winner's Choice or Bucknasty strings/cables.

Sounds good. So would you recommend me replacing my strings now since they are still factory or wait until I have used the bow about1.5-2 years and replace everything???

If it is shooting good and isnt frayed or excessively worn...keep shooting it till after this season IMO. Or else replace em immediately in time for season and keep the current ones for a spare. Always good to have a second set of strings incase something goes wrong. Im taking my factory strings as a spare set to SD this fall incase I need to replace them in an emergency.

I replace most string every 2 years, but I do keep a spare set on hand at all times.
