Default G5 optix XR..

anyone have one of these and know if it is worth the purchase? It looks like a sweet idea, I just want to know if it's going to hold up and work as well as advertised.
thanks,
walt

I had bought a G5 optix last year and had a sight pin screw break. They say to get it tight, but don't over-tighten. I didn't think it was even snug when it broke. Called G5, no prblem, they'll send me a new one. 3 days later, got a package of 5 screws. Went to replace the one that broke, being sure to not over-tighten, and it broke. Some people swear by them, but I personally thought that they needed to redesign that sight pin screw. I also thought, IMO, that they made noise when shooting, not just on my bow, but a friends Mathews also. But you may find them great, I just didn't want the problems, it was $175 mistake for me!

strutnbuck,

I sent a few emails to G5 telling them to install small brass lock washers under the screws after I broke one of myself. The lockwashers are cheap and they will do the trick. Of course, G5 responded saying that they are working on the problem. I guess a $30 fix was too easy. Eitherway, ever since I installed the lock washers I have not had any buzzing or issues on my G5.

I have seen the XR and played with a bit at one of the shows, but have not picked one up yet. It seems to be a lot better than the adjustable pin on the old LE. If you get one let us know how it performs for you.

I just purchased a G5 LE. I couldn't part with close to $200 for the XR....but if I had a spare $200....actually, it probably would go for gas for my truck....then the left over would probably go for some coffee or maybe some peanut M&M's.

Ok, ADD session over with.

XR looks sweet. I can't wait to get my LE.....oh look, a bird....
