NAP Razorbak
#1
Hey everyone, my name is Greg and i'm new to the forum and i look forward to talking hunting and shooting with all of you - introductions aside, i was wondering if anyone was familier with the NAP Razorbaks, i switched to them two years ago and have loved them (other then the price $35 bucks for three of them). My question has to do with their "rotating head technology" claims that because the broadhead can rotate it helps penetrate better, does anyone know if its true?..sounds kinda like a gimmick to me, i actually did not notice it when i bought them, initially i picked them because they had a big cut on contact main blade, and honestly, looked kinda cool. like i said i have really liked their performance on game so far (two doe so far), but i was just curious about that particular claim, thanks

i use them last year. shot two does with them and both were pass-thrus ( one was a heavy shoulder hit ), but i gave them up the blood trail was not the good. they would start off good then they would get less and less, then start off good agian and die off again.

that's odd you got pass throughs and a poor blood trail...both deer i shot i watched crash, neither of them made it past 40 yards so the blood trail was kind of a moot point, but thanks for the warm welcome and your comments!

I remimber when Razorbaks came out before NAP owned them. We thought they were going to be a great sellers and ordered a lot of them to put in the shop. Had then for years no one would buy them. End up giving them away at are 3 D shoots

First off welcome...
Razorbakcs
Never could get them to fly as good as other heads
Haven't seen a test where they performed well
I wasn't there for the shot.... but I had a hunting budy who lost a deer with them..I helped him track and the blood trail just died off..

thanks for all the comments guys, like i said i have had pretty good luck with them, granted i have only used them on two deer, but the guy at my bow shop had some bad stories about them too. I like the idea of a cut on contact broadhead, i had used the plain muzzy 3 blade 100 grainers before the razorbaks and both times i didn't get pass throughs and almost no blood trail, i never ended up recovering either deer and needless to say that left a pretty bad taste in my mouth. so would anyone suggest a good cut on contact broadhead? Some of the resharpenable broadheads intrigued me, but i don't know if i'm confident enough in my broadhead sharpening skills to get them, any suggestions are welcome and appreciated

Magnus stingers are a good solid COC head that has replacable blades. You might look at simmons sharks broadheads if you are in the market for a re-sharpenable head. For three blade COC's I like Magnus Snuffers and G5 Montecs both are heads thatyou can Re-sharpen. The hellrazor from NAP has also got some good reviews, but i have not used it personly. Hope this helps.

thanks popeandyoung, i took a long hard look at the Montecs, they look like a real rugged head and i have heard good things about them. The fact that you might be able to use them a couple times would be a plus for me too. The razorbaks i use are like 35 bucks for a 3 pack and once i shoot something with one i wont use it again (the blades aren't replacable). The only thing about resharpening the Montecs is that although i can put a decent edge on a knife, i don't know if i'm quite talented enough to get a real razor's edge on a broadhead. That being said maybe the stingers will be my best bet because you can just replace the blades and i wont have to worry about it.
