It's funny, because I thought the same thing when I decided to try and learn backtension. It took me 6 months with a coach to relearn what I"taught" myself in a year on my own [8D]. Now almost 2 years,a state championship, and crates full of trophies after starting to work with my coach.........I can clearly see it's the best money I spent so far on the game.I wish all the gadgets I bought before had been $$$ spent on a coach earlier.I still work with my coach today and continue to see drastic improvements.

I don't think a "t-handle" would be a mistake for you, I think aT handle thumb trigger would be a mistake personally as compared to a T handle hinged backtension release. I feel it's much easier to learn and reinforce the proper execution of a shot out of your back using a hinged back tension style release than a thumb trigger.
