Default Good Hunting Knife?

I am going to buy a new hunting knife this year - any suggestions about what I should look for and what I should stay away from?

I bought a SOG Seal Pup Knife. At $80.00 it doesn't break the bank and it is a very sturdy, solid knife. It'll cut through bone and all if you want to.

Get a Gerber with a gut hook on it. Its all you'll ever need. Plus it's American made.

my shrade with the gut hook rusted a bit and the gut hooked dulled not so long after purchase. this was like a 30$ model though. i prefer the buck knives. you need to see what type steel is used and youll probably need 2 or 3 types to be happy.

A buck knife with a 3-4 inch blade is what I like. Reasonably priced and good quality.

I just bought this skinning knife made by remington for 15 bucks. Nothing fancy but it will make short work of some deer and fox skins this fall. My friend has a remington he has cleaned a bunch of deer and geese with for years.
