Default Fixed Blade Reviews

Trying to decide on a Fixed Blade Broadhead. Looking at the SONIC HEAD or the NAP CROSSFIRE. I am looking for a broadhead that flys true to field point accuracy. Does anyone have a preference? Also let me know your reasoning on the preference. Thanks in advance

Tried the Sonic last year and it performed great. Arrow went straight through the deer and he died 40 yards later. It really does fly exactly like a field tip. The only thing i didnt like about them is they didnt feel THAT sharp compared to other heads ive felt. Sometimes the blades didnt go together flush right away, you kinda have to mess around with them a little bit. But about the blade sharpness, they didnt feel real sharp but obviously they were sharp enough because i had the cleanest pass through ever with them. I'm trying Slick Tricks this year because i have only heard good stuff about them.

Where I hunt you are not allowed to use that type of broadhead because the blades need to be straight not curved like those are to be legal.

Ive shot both the sonic and the crossfire from NAP. Both have very good arrow flight. I never shot a deer with the sonic heads but my dad did and after recovering the arrow and the deer we noticed all three blade tips were folded back because a small sliver of bone got wedged inbetween them. As for the crossfire, I shot a decent 10 pointer a couple of years ago with them and was not at all impressed with penetration. The blades are nice and sharp but the tip is like a butter knife.

I'm not one to bash any product (I'll recommend one over another, but rarely take the stance of turning someone away from one)... Having said that, I think I'd be pretty hesitant to shoot Sonics at anything other than small game. I received several from Liberty when they were giving them away last year, and the tolerances on them was often poor, and I've seen and read too many stories of them not holding up well to flesh and bone.

There's too many good fixed-blade heads out there to chance it with those. I used Slick Tricks for the early part of last year, and they're a good head. I finished up the year using Muzzy MX-4's, and I'm really excited about the new MX-3 this year... In fact, I just shot my first two broadheads of the year earlier tonight and shaved the fletching off my MX-4 tipped arrow with an arrow outfitted with my new MX-3s.

Something's screwy going on with my image-hosting site; obviously the grass to the left should be at the bottom of the pic, making these first two shots of the year a bit high... Still, I'm happy with the way they grouped. In fact, not only did I shave two of the flecthings off the first arrow, I dinged up one of the blades on my MX-3 as it slammed into the MX-4 already buried into my Morrell Yellowjacket.

I have read some of the reviews on the Sonic's and they praise the heads durability actually showing the head go through a steel barrel. My reluctance is the fact that they have a 7/8" cutting diameter. seems a little narrow. Worried about blood trail. Checked out the broadhead and they appear to be solid and sharp. They claim they leave a hole similar to a .308 shot. I have heard some other less than great reviews from the NAP Crossfire. I will check out the muzzy's. Any other bradheads you would recommend. Anything good about the rage expandable. Hesitant about expandables. Not interested in getting into another argument with expandable lovers and fixed blade lovers just looking for a good broadhead that will fly like a field point and deliver.
