G5 MONTEC vs. NAP HELLRAZOR
#1
Ok, Iver shot the Montec and was very pleased with all aspecs of it. Ive never shot the Hellrazor, and never plan to. To me it just looks like a cheaper version of the G5. I was wondering if anyone has shot both and what their thoughts were. Heck even if you havent shot both tell me what you think.

The only difference I see is that the G5 Montec has a center that has square edges. The Hellrazor has a center that has round edges.
What that means exactly...I do not know.

I dont know much abou the Hellrazor, I go with theG5 Montec becous of the pure strength it has. Have had them go deep into a tree and still use them (after a lot of work to get them out). I am shour that the hellrazor is a good head too.

The Montec is fast becoming a dominant force in bow hunting around here. They fly real well and are made of some very high quality steel - combination of very hard without beingparticularly brittle. I have seen them hit rocks and even 3/8" mild steel plate without much damage. They are hard to sharpen, though - kinda like a Buck knife.

They're two completely different heads, despite the fact that they may look the same.
The Montec is made using an injection molding process, which basically from my understanding takes a powdered metal and through a bonding and heating process hardens it into one solid piece.
The HellRazor is also a 100% stainless steel broadhead, however itis photon welded, the same process used on it's bigger brothers better known as the Razorcaps. The blades are .040" thick, which I believe is thicker than that of the Montec, which from what I have gathered has .010" thick blades which seems awful thin to me. Anyone know if that's right??
Any and every short 3 blade cut-on-contact resharpenable broadhead is going to look similar - there's no way for them not to. Change the cutouts, the color, or the shape of the ferrule but you're still going to end up with a broad that looks pretty dang close to the rest of them.

I couldnt find anything on blade thickness for the montec, I do know for a fact they are not .010". I tried measuring on, all I had wasa measuring tape and as close as I could tell they are about 3/32 at the base.

I would be willing to bet he put a caliper on one.
While I have not personally seen a Hellrazor I have shot it's "Big Brother" the Razor cap and found them to be generally unsatisfactory. While the point of the BH was quite sharp (from a pointyness standpoint) the blade sharpness was pretty unimpressive. Additionally I did have some issues with them spinning true.
Now that NAP owns the rights to the Razor caps I am hoping they put thier touch on the sharpness and overall quality of the design.
The Montec on the other hand I consider one of the finest shooting BHs out there. I have a BH box with just about every other head made and the Montecs are consistently my "go to" head.
It does take a little practice to get them sharp, however their flight characteristics more than make up for any extra time you put into getting them sharp.
