I just bought a jacket and pair of pants from D1ck's on sale thinking I got a good buy. It's made by Field & Stream and called NOSENT. I got this to use for bowhunting but upon trying it on at home I realized it's pretty noisy. I haven't washed it yet and am thinking of returning it. Anybody else tried this stuff? Does washing it soften it up and make it quieter?

Is this the fleece jacket and pants?
I picked up the Noscent fleece hooded jacket and pants this year from D1ck's Sporting Goods also and LOVE the stuff. It's the quietest outfit I have, great tones to the pattern and is super comfy. Warm and windproof too.
We can't be talking about the same product?[:-]

The fabric is called hydroproof ultra. It's supposed to be windproof, waterproof and breathable. It's a real tight knit fabric. Looks like it would prevent burrs from sticking. The camo looks great on it. I'm not really sure where the noise is coming from. I don't think it's the outer layer, maybe the noscent layer or something in between. When you say fleece, are you talking about typical fleece fabric, or something a bit tighter. It looks a lot like my Gamehide jacket if that helps.

cbanman,
We're definitely talking about 2 different products......same company obviously but what I have is soft fleece outerwear. Very plush and silent.
Like RJ said it might be the best deal going for some quality outerwear (Plus you get a free subscription to Field and Stream with the purchase)
I almsot feel like going and buying a complete 2nd set just to have it. (You know the old saying.......if you like something buy 2 because they'll be sure to discontinue it.
)

Thanks Matt. I may have to go back to my local store and see if they have any of that fleece you guys have. I just wouldn't feel confident sitting in my stand with camo that crinkles when I move. Aside from the noise this set up is really nice: draw string for the waist, zippered at the wrist, and legs, nice hood. Basically it's got it all but it's a little noisy.

cbanman, you might want to wash ( in non scent soap of course!!) and then check it out. A few years ago I was ordering a Scent Lok suit from a place that specializes in buying overstocks , store closings etc., and the lady told me about a shipment of Scentblocker Featherlite suits that they had just gotten in. It was less than half price of original price, so as you said, I ordered 2 of them
, and 3 of my buddies ordered a suit. When we got them, we were really bummed out because they were also really noisy. They almost crinkled when you moved in them. We were really bummed because they were really great suits. I called Robinson's Labs to ask why they were so noisy. The lady said that they have to be washed before using to get rid of the sound. She said that it was the the top layer of the waterproofing spray that they use on it. She said the stuff soaks in , then the excess outer layer washes off. She said that anytime you buy waterproof clothes that you will normally have that. So I washed the suits, and they were as quiet as could be. You may want to try it before giving up on them. Hopefully that is your problem.

I called the manufacturer and was told washing probably wouldn't help but to give it a try. If I still didn't like it, take it back to D1ck's. Well in this case washing didn't help so it's going back. I wanted something besides Mossy Oak camo anyhow. Thanks for the input guys.
