Default Gerber's "Carnivore" tracking light

Anyone try one of these yet?

They seem to be selling well because everyone around here is sold out.

I tried one for the first time last weekend. I thought it worked pretty well.
The blood was still wet during the tracking. I think that helps when you use the light. Not sure about when the blood is dry though. I think Bass Pro still has some in stock.

All of the reviews I have heard so far from every sourceare that they are junk.

Also,
Our biologist herebought one and we tried it on some deer blood in a fairly controlled environment. Compared against a regular flashlight and a high powered spotlight showed that while it was not totally useless, the results were very poor. Especially considering how much the things cost.

Among the things that work the best are a gas lantern. Second is a high powered spotlight (drawback is the batteries usually don't last that long) and after that a high quality flashlight. I have a pair of 3 D cell Maglights w/ LEDs that are pretty good and will last all night long.

I had one (lost it) and was not at all impressed. The regular flashlight function was okay, but the blood tracking light was sad. Sure as heck won't waste the money on another one and don't really miss the one I had.

My cousin bought one before the bow season started this year, and we used it to track my doe. I thought it worked very well. You can really see the difference between using a regular flashlight and using the tracking light. I was impressed with the results.
