Also, a good idea would be to find a good pro-shop in your area and look around and see what they have. I know that the guys at the shop I went to were more than glad to help me. They set myset bow to thecorrect draw length for me, helped to tune my bow, they set me up withproperly spined arrow formy set-up, suggested a type of release, gave me all sorts of pointers on form and such, all this and I didn't even buy the bow from them. As to a arrow rest there are lots of options, and since you are new to this I'd look at the whisker biscuit IMHO. As you read thru the various posts here you see that this can be a lively topic. Also, there is a wealth of info at this forum. Good luck and good hunting.

With all the new 2007's coming out you can probably get a great deal on a used bow this winter. The first things to do are to figure out what your draw length is and what poundage you want to shoot. (If you're staying with deer and black bear I'd go with a 60 lb. bow, bigger stuff may lean you toward a 70 lb. bow but it isn't a necessity to have all that KE, just a cushion.)
