ANYBODY HAVE ANY PREFERANCES ON EITHER. ANYBODY THINK THAT CAMO W/ EITHER INCLUDED IS BETTER OR IS THE LINER SYSTEM BETTER. I AM LOOKING AT THE SCENTBLOCKER SYSTEM BUT IT SEEMS EXPENSIVE...... ANYBODY?

My money is in Scent lok, Scent blocker is good too. But here's the kicker our dryers have to reach something like 800 degrees too make the garment scent free. Mine cannot do that. But, spray some fall blend on the outside of the garment and it's good to go. These products do help, but of equal importance is the wind and scent control showers and scent control carrying bags, sorry for the run on sentence.

Here's my approach. I'm all but done hunting this year and I never washed the stuff, only put it in the dryer when I thought it needed it. Nothing all season, hunting in different conditions and places every busted me while wearing it. Had deer feed very close to me for an hour and never once became alarmed, eye level even. Had three deer feeding under me at very last light. Removed my head covering and instantly they looked up.
Do I think it works? Yes. What does this test do for me? Plenty. It shows me it works and it takes a product that is supposed to be replace every 4-5 years (recommended 4-5 washings a year for a total of 20, the life of the garment) and if I wash it once a year I'll get 20 years. You do the math. I don't wear my scent lok unless I'm hunting and that means removing it when I get to the downed animal and packing it out. If nothing is killed, I'll keep it on till I'm out of the woods.
To tell the truth I don't care for the camo pattern. I also think movement plays a huge role in being busted.
I think the scent lok guy at AT deleted a post I made with these results. If he did I'll be buying the blocker from now on. I think they are the same, but I haven't tested them. I do wear their gloves.

Just test it yourself.
I maybe able to narrow your need for the stuff down a bit. The environment and number of deer per square mile play a big role. One area I hunt is flat, some what open with small wood lots and the wind changes often. Some places it seems the wind comes from all directions. The herd size is 1 per square mile. To kill that 1 deer takes some doing and scent control has to be at it's highest form. If your a very good kiss a$$ you can get a shot at a group of them. If not and you hunt someplace else it could be weeks before you see one. I have hunted with and without the stuff. I recommend doing it with if, you want a shot and maybe your only one all year. I've killed that deer and every one's a trophy in my book.
If you hunt where the terrain is more broken up and the deer numbers are high you can get along without the stuff. I hunt there too, and it is often the reason many guys pooh pooh the stuff. Still I would, do wear mine there. It does help.
As far as the science goes, there are a whole lot of variables that are never spoken about that any real science would have to include. You can find many of them out for yourself. I've given 3 already.
As far as the dog thing goes, I own a bluetick/blood hound. A powerful nose on that beast. He smells more than the scent of the thing he's looking for and scent lok clothes have a carbon smell to them. No one ever said they were without a scent. That test is a, what's the word, oh ya, gimmick, it does help a person find the stuff sitting on the shelves at a reduced cost though.

Let me start off by saying that I own 3 suits. 1- Scent Lok, 1 Scentblocker Ultra Lite and 1 Scentblocker Featherlight. Of the Suits that I own, I like the Scentblocker suits better by far. The Scent lok suit I have is just a basic poly cotton suit so it doesn't have alot of the different features of the others But of all that I have looked at at Cabelas, Gander Mtn. etc I just have always favored the Scentblocker brand.
About 5 or 6 years ago I started using the scent suits. Now, I am one of those scent control fanatics. I take every step possible to remain as scent free as possible ( although I know it is impossible to be scent free, but I try to acheive it as much as I can). I have always taken pride of being able to have deer very close to me without busting me. This is my 23rd year of bowhunting by the way.
I truly beleive that the scent suits do what they say they do. But in the past few years, the question that has bothered me was how long? Of course , like most of you guys, I started reading the posts on here and other forums and the different reports out there that kind os started shedding doubt on the life of the suits and the effectiveness of reactivation of the suits. Of course some of these posts were by people in the scientific feild, engineers etc. I really started to have my doubts.
Then I had something happen that really made my mind up for me.
I work as a Chemical handler at a manufacturing plant for a very large and well known corporation. I work alot in a seperate building by myself where all of our chemicals are stored. My boss is the Environmental Health and Saftey Coordinator for not just our plant but also a few others. Beleive me, this guy is brilliant. He really knows his stuff. Anyhow, this past summer he was over in the other building talkining to me and he saw one of my hunting magazines laying there. This guy is not a hunter and knows nothing about it. But he suddenly took an interst in the magazine. Then he pointed out why. It had an article about Scent suits, and he saw the term activated carbon, and got all excited!!
He asked me what it was all about. So I explained in great detail what the suits are, how they work, how you reactivate them etc. He asked me if I had one. I said I have 3 of them. Then he he said, "Well, I sure hope you didn't pay much for them." I then grabbed my Cabelas catalog out of my drawer and showed him the prices of the different suits, and he just laughed and said " Well, not to mean, but these guys are getting rich off of you guys ignorance of the use of activated carbon". Then he went on to tell me alot of stuff that confirmed my suspicions and that were exactly like the things that I had read. Now remember, this guy knows nothing about the hunting industry so he has no axe to grind against Scent Lok or Scent blocker. This stuff just came from a casual conversation and the fact he saw an article in my magazine. Here are a few things he told me. Abd also remember, this guy works with carbon for various water and air filtration systems in out plant and others, so again, he knows his stuff.
1. He said that the carbon will absorb the scent molecules just as advertised, but he estimated that the suit would probably be full in 10-12 hours of usage, depending on the amount of scent that each individual person emits.
#2. First of all, he said that there isn't a comercial dryer made that will get near the heat needed to reactivate the carbon. He also said that a temp of 12-1400 would be needed.
#3. He said that it was possible that the outer most layer of the carbon may be cleaned up with the release of the molecules, but would fill back up within the first hour of wearing the suit again.
#4. He also said that after repeated use and washings that the carbon particles could break apart.
He told me some other stuff about the carbon, but these items were what concerned me. He basically said that after 10-12 hours you were basically left with a regular camo suit, that cost you lots of $$$$$.
He said that the suits will actually do what the manufacturers advertise, but only for a short period, so there is no real way for them to get in any trouble for false advertising. They just don't give you the limitations involved.
After that, I decided that I would not spend more of my money on them. I actually was excited to go back to my good old Predator camo again. The way I saw it, and my buddies ( who also have the suits) agreed with me, was that all those years before I used the scent suits, I was still just as close to just as many deer as after wearing them. I killed deer at close range without them just as I did before.
This year I went back to my Predator. I do wear the X-Scent stuff underneath. I take all the steps that I always have. Guess what. I had deer after deer around me, lots of them within spitting distance. On Nov. 17th, I killed a really nice 9 pt. at 14 yards downwind of me. So from now on, I will just keep doing what I do every year, keep taking nice deer, and use the scent suit money to buy more ladder stand ( like I really need more of those) and other gear.
Beleive me, I am no scientist, and I didn't play one on TV last night!!
But the guy from work is, and a brilliant one at that. What he said made up my mind for me.
I beleive that if you use the suits and like them, and have the utmost confidence in them, that is great. I will never slam you or ridicule you for using something you like. I jsut know that for me, I have decided to put them away and go back to my old way, because it works for me, and it is alot cheaper!

I don't own a scent suit and most likely never will. To me, its a gimmick and I have better things to spend my money on.Before season I wash all clothing in scent killer andair dry on the clothes line for a few days. Its then placed in a scent tight containers. I take a scent killer shower before I dress in the mornnig. I hunt a lot and wash my undergarments about every two weeks during season. I don't put my outers on until I get out of the truck and dress on the tailgate before heading in. I use scent killer to spray myself down before leaving the truck as well.
Now, here's the kicker. I chew snuff on stand and spit on the ground. I have had numerous deer come right under my stand and I know they smelled the stuff. Never once spooked. I also just spray my boots with racoon urine before heading out. I can honestly say in my 12 years of bowhunting so far, have never had a deer come across where I walked and became alarmed.
In my opinion its not about scent being in the area, its the amount of scent that spooks or alarms them. Think about it. All year long deer smell human scent in one way or another. Whether its drifting from a nearby house or camp, farmers tending to their business, hikers, bikers etc, deer learn to differentiate whether or not there is enough scent to believe a human is nearby. Keeping this scent to a low level usually does the trick.
I guess I'm saying the scent lok and the such will help. But why spend the money? Its already been proven that the claims of reactivation is false. And the suits will usually be pretty much worthless in a few years because you can "regenerate" the carbon like they state.
