I have been looking into some new camo and am interested in Predator/ASAT type pattern. I'm looking for warm weather and cold weather camo. Most quiet camo that I like is not water proof/resistant. I noticed that alot of other people use this camo as well. What happens in a sudden rain shower or snowday? Do you always just cary rain gear? Does anyone make scent blocker, quiet, water proof/resistant camo for the warm and cold season? Sound like it should be easy to find but I have not had any luck.
What do you do?
Thanks,

Well now that is a tall, tall order you have there.
I'll go this route, ASAT is an exceptional open pattern and they offer a insulated waterproof bibs and jacket for $390.00...I didn't see any other waterproof materials on their catalog page.
You can find Predator in Wolfskin which is a really waterproof lightweight material which is also whisper quiet. Enigma, another very good open pattern camo comes in Wolfskin as well.
The difference then being that you'll find Enigma slightly less expensive than the Predator plus the Enigma is a all purpose camouflage. Predator and exceptional pattern is more season specific. The Fall Grey is a great pattern when the leaves are down however it's the wrong choice for a green enviroment. The Predator Green is great in a green enviroment but the wrong choice when the leaves comes down. Predator Deception could be an all season camo but again, you'll find you will spend more picking it up.
Engima only comes in Wolfskin and will suite your needs in all seasons, when the leaves are green as well as when the leaves come down. However, being a newer company, it's not yet available in an insulated line. Chuck, the owner however prides himself on being a custom camo company and he will get you into the Engima Wolfskin in the clothing of your choice. If you have an idea of what you want, he will accomodate you.
With all 3 camos being exceptional and only ASAT and Enigma being a all season camo, plus Enigma the only of the two comes in Wolfskin water repellent material and add the special features and craftsman ship of Enigma products, it's the best bang for the buck.
I've recently purchased Enigma and hunted in the rain, I could't believe I never once felt water through the material. For bowhunting, the velcro around the arms allows you to cinch up the material actually creating a built in arm gaurd. It also has this feature around the waist, small of the back, belt line as well as ankles. Incredible.
I had several doe try to pinpoint me when the got down wind of me, one looked for a split second then ignored me completely. I was impressed to say the least. I also own ASAT in cotton, I would have been soaked to the bone, I also own Predator Fall Grey but wouldn't have worn it in the green enviroment. I also couldn't affored the Wolfskin in Predator at the time.
Again, Engima is an excellent all around choice.

Check out the Predator Camo page...www.predatorcamo.com.
They have both insulated and non-insulated in all different types of fabric, I am sure you will find something there.

Mothwing, it's certainly not an open pattern camo, it's more of a RT or MO pattern which tends to blob.
If your not into Enigma, don't make a mistake, go with either Predator or ASAT, with ASAT being a better pattern, IMO but a lesser product. If not Enigma, another all purpose pattern would to definately check into Predator Deception in Wolfskin.

Just checked out ASAT leafy 3D. Seems like a very good option. You could wear anything underneath depending on the weather conditions. I never wore anything like that...does a suit like that get caught easily on branches,ect...?

Rainman,
The leafy suit is great. It is designed to be worn as an "over suit". So it is cut large and works well. As far as getting caught or snagging it does not do either. The only way it might snag on something is if you are stalking through a briar thicket. I have worn mine for the past 2 years with no trouble what so ever. But I do most of my hunting from a tree stand.
October bow huntingin SE Texas is HOT. I wear my shorts T-shirt and my leafy suit and a pair of hiking boots.
I just sold a suit to a guy going to Colorado Elk hunting and needed it to work over his insulated clothes.
It is very versitile, durrable and well worth the money.

Yep, ASAT leafy is great, but...it's cut too big IMO. Perfect for when it's really cold and you have heavier stuff on under it, but in the warm months with just a thin base layer under it...it's too big. I'm 6'6" 230 lbs and the XL is cut way too big...especially in the pants. They hang so low and loose that I end up rolling the waist up to get the crotch out of the way. If you have to cross a fence or any such thing...it's a problem.
I also don't like the fact that there are NO pockets. Again, in the winter when you have something under it that will likely have pockets...no big deal, but with the thin base layer...that also does not have pockets it leaves you with nothing.
If you can deal with those issues...which I have learned to...it's great stuff. However, I have a set of Enigma on order!
