ORIGINAL: VA HEAD HUNTER

hunt the wind first. but scentlok does increase your odds especially for bow hunting. if it didnt work then they wouldnt be selling and they wouldnt be so expensive. so yes they do work but you still havt to mind the wind
Lots of expensive things that don't work sell every year , just ask any Ford owner ...

Arecarbon suits necessary ? No , I've never been winded by a deer that was upwind of me . Will they save you if the wind shifts to the deer's favor ? Not permanently no matter what you hear . Are they worth what they cost ? Pffft ! No . I've gotten more benefit from using cheap homemade descenting spray and plain old baking soda that I ever did from the carbon suits I tried , I won't waste any more of my hard earned money on them again , they're the most overhyped gimmick in modern hunting .

I am not a believer in the scent blocker. Granted, some deer (especially the older ones) will travel with the wind and other things, but the deer you will lose to that is minimal. I have watched my grandfather and uncles for years hunt in jeans and flannel, smoking cigars, and they shoot more deer than anyone I know. Some guys like to eliminate all possible senarios where a deer will pick them up...I wear regular camo and spray it down with scent elimination as well as pack it in a bag with pine and leaves.

I would like to know if anyone has had the wind blowing at a direct path to deer while wearing scent-lok clothing and not had the deer smell them...

I went hunting last year, Jan. 17 I think. There was a nasty front coming in and I wanting to get a few hours in before it hit. There was a 10-15 knot wind out of the NW that moring do I thought I'd hunt in a stand I had in a hard wood bottom on a creek bed....good place for that wind direction. Ofcourse, when I got on stand, the wind was swirling in there like a compass in the Bermuda[:@]. An hour later, I was back in my truck calling a buddy to come help me load him up (picture of that deer is in my profile onhere). He was the third deer I had come by me that morning, all within 40yrds, and one six point that hung around me for about thirty minutes, getting as close as 7 yrds from the base of my tree. I took that 8 pointer at 35 yrds, WITH THE WIND SWIRLING AND GUSTING! There is not one dought in my mind, if it were not for my scentblocker suit, I wouldn't have had a chance in h*** at seeing, let alone killing that buck!

Last year was the first year I have ever wore a carbon suit, and like some here, I was, lets just say humored at the advertised promises made by scentlock and scentblocker! I saw more deer last year than I ever have, before I decided I wouldproveto myself that these suits wouldn't/couldn't work as advertised! Sometimes one must admit when they are wrong, and in my prior thinking on this subject, I was way wrong! But hey, I'm happy as hell I was willingto prove how right I thought I was!

I'll never go hunting without my carbon suit again.....best product since the round wheel...IMHO! Take that for whatever it's worth![8D]

Yep...if you can minimize the human scent along with a scent control regimen as listed above. You have a better chance of a successful kill.. That means no eating "cheetos" in the blinds, tree or behind the bush! (lol!)
