Bow Problems?
#1
Alright guys, I keep shooting the same three bow manufacturers and I am finding it extremely hard to pick one to buy. Hoyt, Mathews and Bowtech.
All three have dealers in my area, all three will be in the same price range.
I will be going home with one of these bows in the next two months. So, I don't want to hear anything else about any other bow manufacturer. I have shot tons of bows and have narrowed it down to these.
So, without bashing brands, what are some known problems or experienced problems with these bows.
Mathews Switchback/Switchback XT
Hoyt Trykon/Trykon XT
Bowtech Tribute or Allegiance
Obviously I want the best bang for my buck and I don't want to be stuck buying a bow and taking it back to the shop for repairs every season.
Thanks for your help.
P.S. Again, I don't want this to be a forum where people start wars. If you haven't had a problem, then don't post anything.

Rob, thanks for the insight. You did a fantastic job describing your trials between the Trykon and the Allegiance. I personally like the wall on the Trykon. I have beenhunting witha PSE Nova where the wall is not as defined and I am ready for something new.
I have heard some things and I don't know how valid they are:
1. Bowtechs limbs delaminating/cracking early in the bows life.
2. Hoyts split limb design and the cam lean.
3. Mathews timing holes not being parallel to the string.

Go over to archerytalk.com, there is a poll on there now about limb failures and it is rapidly becoming clear that all the bashing is total B.S. based on the results coming in. No company is immune to failures and none of the big 3 is any better/worse than the others. I have talked to several shop owners recently and specifically asked about limb failures and not one shop felt they saw any more than 1-2% call back on any line of bow. And they also explained that more than half of the broken limbs were the result of gouging limbs when dropping from stands and dry fires. So the actual failure rate is below 1%. These owners as a group sell thousands of bows every year and they all carried the big 3 so were a pretty good barometer to the truth. Don't let bow failures scare you, when you seperate the facts from the internet bashing you realize they are all reliable.
Now, on to the serious stuff. What other company gives you the choice of adjustable draw length by merely switching a $20.00 dollar module or a choice of speed vs smooth draw cycle with a module change also?
I tried all your choices and will be buying a Tribute hopefully in the next couple weeks myself.

The only issue I had with the Trykon was "string buzz". I put small rubber cat whiskers on the inside (toward the middle of string) of each of the Stringshox, and it's super-quiet now. The "harsh" draw cycleis a myth, in my opinion!

i have no personal experience with those bows other than i didn't like the rollover on the trykon, and i loved the way the trykon sat down in my hand at full draw.
the only one of those bows i haven't heard stories about from my customers is the tribute.
on the trykon, replacing the floating yoke with a static one will let you clean up the lean, or so i hear. on the SB you can clean it up too, but when its time for new strings make sure you order from someone who knows what the actual lengths are, and not what mathews publishes.
think about the trykon xl also. now that drew and sat in my hand pretty much as nice as the tribute, but just longer ata.
i've never shot a mathews, not even once so i have no idea how that one sits down.

Myself and 4 of my friends each got the Switchback XT the other day, and we love them. My one other friend also got his, but opted to buy at a different shop, and he was having problems with his.
The shop I deal with, told me that you have to use a special bow press for the Switchbacks, and if you don't there is a good chance you may bend the riser. Not sure if this happend to my friend's bow, all I know 4 of us have no problems at all.
