Default Hoyt Bows...

I am wondering about the quality and such of Hoyt Bows...My father-in-law came across one at a garage sale. It is a Hoyt Raider Compound 30-35lbs pull 42in axle to axle, and that is all I know about it. There is no serial number, nothing on it other that the Hoyt brass badge affixed to the grip and the word Raider on the lower limb. I was hoping someone could give me some insight as to; is a good bow, etc...

Actually he is "giving" it to me to use when I want and can what I want with it (as far as add-ons etc) but when he wants to use it I am to let him...

Yes I was hoping to actually start bow hunting up figure I would fix it up and practice be ready to go hunting this fall...

Unfortunately,Texas has a minimum draw weight of 40 Lbs.Are you sure it's not a 30-40 lb. bow?

Generally speaking you can get a few more pounds than the max rating. In the case of a 35# bow though, I doubt you will get over the 40# requirement.

Take a look at the Browning Micro Midas III. They come in a 40# and you can get about 42 out of it. They run about $239 I think set up. If that's still not quite enough, check out the Adrenaline. They go to 50#.
