Generally speaking you can get a few more pounds than the max rating. In the case of a 35# bow though, I doubt you will get over the 40# requirement.

Take a look at the Browning Micro Midas III. They come in a 40# and you can get about 42 out of it. They run about $239 I think set up. If that's still not quite enough, check out the Adrenaline. They go to 50#.
