Wanting a new arrow rest......

RE: Wanting a new arrow rest......
I will not use anything other than a drop away rest any more. Been using one for the last 4 years and they are simply great rests. No fletching contact to worry about, groups are better, less human influance on the arrow. IMHO you can't beat them.
Currently I am shooting with a QAD ultra rest. It is a drop away but it has some unique features. #1 is you can cock it in the up position while hunting or simply let the cord pull it up while practicing. The other is that it has a bar over the top of the prongs so that when the rest is cocked it becaome a full containment rest just in case you bump something your arrow will not fall off the rest.

Looks cool! How is it as far as being quiet on the draw?

I think from a pure hunting aspect, the WB is hard to beat. It has no moving parts, no strings or cables to get snaged and it holds your arrow in place.

RE: Wanting a new arrow rest......
I would strongly suggest a Kaz-away or Ultimate Fall Away rest from Vital Bow Gear. You get a completely stable arrow hold that is perfect for stalking (ala WB), and you get all the benefits of a fall-away rest. Sure there are moving parts but in several hundred shots and almost 2 years later, I have never had a problem with mine. You can see them at http://www.vitalbowgear.com/arrow_rests.cfm.
EDIT: My Ultimate Fall Away is virtually silent right out of the box. There is no need for moleskin with these rests.

RE: Wanting a new arrow rest......
Very similar to the Quad Ultra rest is the new "Ripcord" rest. It too can be cocked into the up position and had an arm that can be positioned over the arrow holder to contain the arrow.
The biggest thing I noticed was the size of my groups shrunk to about 1/2 when I went to this rest from a Trophy Taker Shakey Hunter Rest.
I sure like the idea of the arrow containment and the quality of this rest seems to be excellent.
