Anybody from SC upstate area bowfished? I live in Easley and was wondering if any of the lakes up here are any good for bowfishing.

I don't know about the upstate, but I've got some friends who bowfish at Lake Murray. I just bought a retriever reel and a few arrows and am planing on going with them this Thursday night. It will be my first time bowfishing. I'll let you know how it goes.

CC,
I'd appreciate any advice about bowfishing Lake Murray also...my inlaws live near Black's Bridge and I'd love to get out and try it one night. Let me know how it goes and good luck.

I went bowfishing Friday night at Lake Murray. It was my first time bowfishing.

We saw lots of large bass, a few cats and only a couple gar. Too bad the bass aren't fair game. Conditions were perfect at about 10:00pm, the lake was just like glass. By 11:00, the wind had picked considerably and stayed that way.

We shot at several but only connected with one. All in all, I had a great time.

CC,
Sounds like y'all had a good time. I haven't been since I was in high school--in '92.
We bowfished quite a bit at Santee (I grew up in Sumter)...biggest fish for us was a 68lb flathead cat that pulled the boat around. We finally got it in when I put a second arrow in her. Our best night as far as numbers was right around 70 fish between the 3 of us...mostly gar and grass carp, but a few cats and muds mixed in. I really miss it...
