Default durability question

I've been talking with a buddy of mine in Michigan who Bowfishes quite a bit. He says that he frequently has to replace his bows. (both food and fiberglass) Why is that? I can understand a wood bow De-laminating, but what is it about a fiberglass bow that is breaking or deteriorating?
