i was just wondering when is the best time of year to start bowfishing?

It's easiest to find fish starting around April and May, at least in IL. Warmer climates will have a longer activity period, and may start earlier. Down toward the tropics, and the Southern coastal states, they do it all year. Up North you have tochip a hole in the ice.

I usually start around April or May. That's when the carp in my lake start to spawn so they move in closer to shore.

I get out as soon as it's warm enough for me to stand it. Bu tI go by day, so it's ear;ier than if by night. Usually March early April.

when there is no ice is the best time. i think. tried it once last winter here in illinoisbut the arrow wouldnt go through the ice..lol seriously though april is my best time i think may is good too

Well Bowfisher would start by saying no ice leets go, and if you can see fish hes ready so anytime of the year is good with Uncle Davy......

A few weeks ago we stopped by one of my favorite areas on the DesPlaines. We were surprised to see a lot of shad jumping. Usually when we see the shad jumping there's a gar not too far behind. I'd be out there at night right now if only my boat was finished.
